Acceptance & Transmittal
of Voter Registration Applications
Employees of the voter registration
agency charged with providing applicants with the opportunity to register to vote
must provide assistance if requested. The Voter Registration Application may be
return to the agency or mailed by applicants to the Division of Elections or County
Commissioner of Registration.

| 1.
If the applicant is unable to personally complete the Voter Registration Application,
you should print the information at applicant’s request. |
|
(a) If applicant is able to complete the application, he/she should sign or mark the Voter Registration Application.
|
(b) If applicant is not able to sign the application,
you should write “unable to sign” and place your name and work address
in Section 10 of the Voter Registration Application.
|
(c) Those applicant’s who have requested assistance
should be advised if the Voter Registration Application is incomplete or is unintelligible.

| 2.
Any intake employee who assists an applicant in registering to vote, must not: |
(a) Seek to influence an applicant’s political
preference or party affiliation;
|
(b) Display any items of political preference or party
allegiance;
|
(c) Make any statement to an applicant or take any action
which may imply the purpose or effect of discouraging an applicant from registering
to vote; or
|
(d) Make any statement to an applicant or take any action
that would lead the applicant to believe that his/her decision to register or
not to register to vote has a bearing on the availability of service or benefits.

| 3. Upon acceptance
of an Voter Registration Application, you must mark or stamp the date received
on the application |
(a) Voter Registration Applications completed at the
agency must be forwarded to the the Division of Elections on a weekly basis. During
the voter registration dead line dates the Applications must be forwarded to the
Division of Elections on a
daily basis.
